8th Grade Girls – You’re Invited to G.O.L.D.!

8th Grade Girls-You are invited to G.O.L.D!

Learn more about G.O.L.D. and How To Register For This Special Event!

G.O.L.D. is an annual event in the North Allegheny School District that is offered exclusively to eighth grade girls. G.O.L.D. stands for Girls Only Leadership Development program. The program is designed to help girls gain the leadership skills needed to succeed in high school and beyond.

The G.O.L.D. program is led by over 30 female high school students, who attend training to lead and mentor the eighth grade girls during this event. Two seniors are selected from this group to act as head facilitators for the event. These leaders work hard all year to create a memorable experience for the 8th grade ladies that attend the event.

Why is this program important?

In today's society, our young women are facing more challenges and pressures than any generation of women before. For this reason, the G.O.L.D program, Girls Only Leadership Development, was created. G.O.L.D. is open to all eighth grade girls in the three middle schools in the district. G.O.L.D is designed to help girls gain a positive self-image, make healthy and positive life choices, build self-confidence, and make new friends. This program also eases the transition into high school, because the participants form relationships with girls from the other middle schools.

How do the 8th grade girls sign up to attend the G.O.L.D. event?

The high school facilitators will visit all three middle schools to tell eighth grade girls about the program and encourage them to register. The visits will take place at MMS on January 6th, CMS January 9th, and IMS on January 13th. Registration forms will be given to students at this time. They will also be available online. The cost of G.O.L.D. is $20 to cover all expenses for speakers, supplies, and food. Eighth grade girls who register receive detailed information at the informational meeting.

When is the G.O.L.D. event?

The event is scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2017. It begins at 3:00 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m. Eighth Grade girls who are participating in G.O.L.D. will be bused from their middle schools to NAI for this event. Parents/Guardians will need to pick up their daughters at the end of the event. In the event of snow/emergency, the makeup date for G.O.L.D. will be announced.

Where is the G.O.L.D. event?

It takes place at North Allegheny Intermediate School to help the eighth grade girls become familiar with the school they will attend next year.
