*Spreading Joy through being Holiday Helpers*
Big toy collections and big smiles for 33 children in need
CMS students enjoy and eagerly participate in being community helpers at this time of year, as they purchased clothes and toys to donate for local children in need.
Carson Middle School's community service project for the holiday season once again benefitted children in the Pittsburgh area. Carson Middle School teamed up with the Alliance for Infants and Toddlers to make the holidays joyful for children in the area. Student Council representatives and alternates selected the name of a child for their homerooms to provide various items to for this holiday. The students collected money or brought in new items of clothing or toys that are age appropriate for the child their homeroom selected. If money was collected by students in homeroom, students were then asked to shop together in order to provide for their homeroom’s child.
On December 8th the Alliance for Infants and Toddlers picked up all the donated gifts, and it was amazing! The halls were lined with basketball hoops, new clothing, and boxes and bags filled with the gifts purchased. The CMS students helped someone less fortunate and realized, “It is better to give than to receive.”
