NASH  Cafeteria Changes - return

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Dear Parents / Guardians of NASH students:

With the start of the New Year, our students will have the opportunity to enjoy a new concept in cafeteria dining at NASH.  Over the winter break, renovations will be done to reconfigure our food services area.  This work will facilitate a transition from our current traditional single-line cafeteria service to a new food court cafeteria experience.  Bright new colors and lighting will enhance the overall improvements this update will offer in terms of an increased selection of menu items, easier access to food and check-out, and continued use of student personal identification numbers (PIN) for making food purchases.
This new design is based on the type of cafeteria service students will encounter when they go to college, with multiple food stations offering a wider variety of choices.  Students will be able to select salads, sandwiches, specialty items and/or the main menu offering more easily by only visiting the stations they choose.  The new cafeteria will also feature four double-sided cashier stands to increase the speed of the check-out process.
In order to get a head start on this renovation, construction will begin after school on Friday, December 19.   This means that the existing cafeteria serving area will be closed on December 22 and 23.  However, food services will be offering a breakfast and a lunch buffet line on both days.  Our food services manager has assured us that the breakfast buffets will include all of the usual items such as bagels, breakfast sandwiches, granola bars, and juices.  The lunch buffets will include the advertised menu offerings; some pre-made salad selections; the popular All-American and Bordertown items from the cafeteria line; deli sandwiches; and a few special treats such as a featured carving station on both days.
Since students will still be using their PIN’s for making food purchases, please make certain that there is money in your student’s account.  We have had some issues in the past with student accounts falling into arrears.  Please be aware that students can lose their PIN account privileges when this becomes a consistent problem.  If you have questions about your son’s or daughter’s account balance, please call (724) 934-7236.
We are excited about this new improvement to the services we offer to our students.  As always, we continue to strive to present them with the highest quality experience in every aspect of their time here at NASH.  Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
