Department/TIGER TEAMS ROLL TO SIXTH STRAIGHT MSA SPORTS-U.S. ARMY CUP
The Tiger teams piled up 1000 points in overwhelming second place
Mt. Lebanon who scored just 530 points as they won their sixth straight
MSA Sports-U.S. Army Sports Cup emblematic of the best sports program in
the WPIAL in the Quad A ranks. Points are earned for the success
of each team in the fall, winter and spring sports seasons. Only
sports with 30% participation of WPIAL sports are included.

Golf(F)/TRYOUTS
SCHEDULED FOR JULY 6
All girls wanting to try out for the girls varsity and JV golf teams
should plan on attending a one hour session on Monday, July 6, at the
North Park Driving Range. The will be a one hour session starting
at 10:00 am and a parent/guardian should be present. There is a
cost for a bucket of golf balls.

Department/TIGER SPORTS TEAMS COMPLETE BANNER YEAR!
The thirty-one NA varsity teams completed an outstanding year of
competition both in the WPIAL and PIAA. The teams won three state
titles, 10 WPIAL titles, and 15 section crowns. In addition, 28
teams qualified for post-season play in their respective leagues!
We will continue to recognize the NA teams in our daily 2008-09 Parade
of Champions on the website.

Summer Camps and Tryouts
Summer camps are available for boys and
girls' basketball, track and field, football, girls' soccer, boys'
soccer, water polo and cheerleading.
Each camp has its own rules, dates and times, cost and applications.

PHYSICALS SET FOR 2009-10 SCHOOL YEAR
The North Allegheny Athletic Department will offer only one
comprehensive physical examination date for the 2009-10 school year.
The date is SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2009. If you cannot make
this date, you will have to schedule your physical with your primary
care physician.

Department/CONCUSSION TESTING SCHEDULED DURING SUMMER MONTHS
In accordance with direction from the Athletic Department, the Athletic
Training Staff will be issuing the ImPACT Concussion Test to all 7th,
9th and 11th grades, as well as all those athletes who have never been
tested regardless of their grade. The testing will take place
during the summer at the computer labs at the Senior High School.
There are two specific dates for each sport and two extra days for those
who cannot make the other two.

MRSA
Infections/DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has released information on how to
deal with MRSA infections. General recommendations and other
information on MRSA including spread, treatment, and prevention and
control are available on the PADOH fact sheet. The Allegheny County
Health Department has also issued guidelines for the treatment of MRSA.

Director/INFECTIOUS DISEASE PREVENTION GUIDELINES
The National Athletic Trainers' Association has released a set of
guidelines of precautions for the prevention of the spread of
communicable and infectious diseases. Due to the nature of competitive
sports at the high school level, there is an elevated risk of infectious
diseases being spread by skin-to-skin contact.

All high school athletes wishing to compete in college must register
with the initial-eligibility clearinghouse. Information about the
clearinghouse, eligibility requirements, ACT and SAT test information,
recruiting schedule, FAQ, recruiting regulations and financial aid
questions is available on the website.

Hall of
Fame/NA HALL OF FAME CONTINUES MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
The North Allegheny Athletic Hall of Fame is currently conducting its
annual membership drive. All athletes who graduated in, or before, 2004
are eligible for consideration. To nominate an athlete, you must be a
member of the Hall of Fame Association. (More)

NAMED TO POST-GAZETTE AND TRIBUNE-REVIEW ALL-STAR TEAMS
Senior center fielder Jon Wilson was selected to the 2009 Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette All-Area team along with being chosen to the 2009
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review All-Star team for his performance in the 2009
season. In addition, Wilson was named to the PG All-Section team
along with teammates senior LF Jackson Boyd and junior 3B Justin Brozick.

Softball/THREE
LADY TIGERS SELECTED TO SECTION ALL-STAR SQUAD
Senior catcher Jocelyn Dimpel, senior SS Mary DeMino, and senior
center fielder Kelsey Fedell were selected to the WPIAL Class AAAA
Section 3 All-Section team as reported in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
All-section selections were chosen by the PG scholastic sports staff
based on voting by coaches in the section.

MILLER, MICHAEL KREPP NAMED TO WPIAL FIRST TEAM ALL-STARS
Senior OH Matt Miller and junior setter Michael Krepp were selected
to the WPIAL Class AAA First Team All-Stars. Senior opposite Adam
Miller and senior libero Matt Robertson were chosen for the second
team while senior MB Freddy Haas was given Honorable Mention. (More)

Department/NA SENIORS TO CONTINUE PLAYING NEXT YEAR ON THE COLLEGIATE
LEVEL
A number of NA seniors who played in various sports throughout the
2008-09 school year will continue play in their respective sports next
year as they move on to the university and college ranks. The
North Allegheny Sports Network wishes all NA athletes good luck in the
future wherever they may compete in the upcoming years.

WPIAL Hall of
Fame/SCHWARZ, 1988 WRESTLING TEAM TO BE HONORED AT WPIAL BANQUET
The third WPIAL Hall of Fame class will honor long time NA boys' soccer
coach Bruno Schwarz and the 1988 Tiger wrestling team that was ranked #1
in the nation at the annual banquet. Schwarz's teams won
seven WPIAL championships and a PIAA title in 35 seasons. The
banquet was held on Friday, June 19, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Moon
Township. T
NA boys' tennis coach John Woffington was previously honored by being
selected to the Western Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.

Department/AUSTIN, LANG NAMED AS SENIOR ATHLETES OF THE YEAR
The Athletic Department has announced the selection of seniors Brian
Austin and Jackie Lang as the NA Outstanding Athletes of the Year.
Austin was the WPIAL 100 meter sprint champion along with starting as
wide receiver on the football squad. Lang led the Lady Tiger
volleyball team to the WPIAL title and runnerup trophy in the PIAA
tournament along with being named first team PIAA and WPIAL.
Austin will attend West Point while Lang will play for Miami (OH) next
year.

Tennis(M)/WOFFINGTON
RETIRES AFTER 38 SEASONS AS NA COACH
Boys' tennis coach John Woffington announced his retirement on Thursday
at the team banquet after 38 seasons as the NA head mentor. During
his tenure, NA had a 612-131 record with four WPIAL and two PIAA
championships. During the past season, the Tigers took both the
WPIAL and PIAA titles. Woffington was recently inducted into the
Western Pennsylvania Hall of Fame
