Allegheny was one of 3,000 libraries across the country to
receive the We the People Bookshelf
Picturing America Grant for all 7 of its
elementary schools. Each school has received a collection of books
for young readers. The titles reflect the iconic times. places, and people
in American history and culture. This grant was funded by the National Endowment for the
Humanities in collaboration with the American Library Association (ALA).
The program is designed to encourage young people to read and understand
great literature while exploring themes in American history. To learn
